Raw Challenge #8 – Lorenzo Pit Lane
Jorge Lorenzo gets edited by Jorge Campos from From South Africa:
#16 is from Kurt Friedrich, who says:
“Didn’t much like the rider image, so decided to go for the concentration in the crew.
Had to force the proportions as the wide angle lens was distorting Ramon Forcada a bit, and there isn’t enough detail to support a 1020×1020.”
#17 is from Patrick Walsh, who writes “I alternated between square and landscape crops, but decided that removing the garage “added” more than keeping it in the shot. I wanted to bring out the concentration in Jorge’s eyes more, but couldn’t improve it by much in Lightroom.”
I think we’ll call this one done and as promised, here’s my version. It didn’t even occur to me to crop to a square as many readers did. Perhaps I’m in a 3:2 ratio rut. I really like the square choice some of you made, well done. I also like some of the color changes readers made, but again, I went with my standard look of fairly high contrast, but nothing too extreme. I did make a Skew change Photoshop to correct for the way the original wide angle shot distorted the rider. Other than that, this is a pretty simple tight crop in my version.
Thanks again, everyone, and look for Raw Challenge #9!
