It always seems to happen: if I do see a crash it’s when I’ve already put the higher-shutter speeds shots in the bank and am messing around with slower stuff. This one is at 1/250th of a second, not too slow really, but the crash happened at the section of track closest to where I was standing, so the 500mm lens was a bit too long to fit all the action in.

The good news is that Marc’s all right, even though he bumped the tarmac a bit at the end of his slide, perhaps trying to get up a little too quickly.
