I admit that when I saw Marc Marquez and Cameron Beaubier sitting on the pit wall at Indianapolis Motor Speedway back in 2009, I didn’t realize I was looking at two future champions. They just looked like some nice kids, one comfortable having his photo taken and one, Marquez, noticeably shy about it. At the time, the youngsters were teammates on the Red Bull KTM Motosport 125cc GP team.

You are probably familiar with the recent accomplishments of Marc Marquez, but you may not know that Cameron Beaubier has made quite a name for himself since returning home from his Red Bull Rookies, Spanish CEV, and 125cc GP days. In 2013 he was AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike champion, and last season he finished third in the AMA Pro Superbike series.

In 2015 he’ll be riding again for Graves Motorsport, and you can see what the Yamaha R1 looks like here.

Will we ever see a Cameron Beaubier MotoGP effort? I’m not the only one to hope so. Given his past experience with many of the GP tracks, Beaubier would have a head start compared to most other American riders coming from AMA to GPs.
