For my money, 2014 saw one of the best Moto3/125cc stories in recent memory. Marc Marquez’ title in 2010 comes to mind, but as a season-long epic, the Miller-Marquez battle was pretty fantastic.

After multiple races of tough moves and clashing personalities, 2014 came down to the final race at Valencia. Jack Miller won the battle but lost the war, with rival Alex Marquez finishing in third place, enough to take the title by two points.

Miller entered parc fermé as race winner and treated the local carpet to a burn out that took more out of the synthetic rug than it did out of the Dunlop rubber. Though he had done all he could to help his chances in the final race, his title hopes had gone up in smoke.

As great as it is for fans when the title comes down to the final race of the season, it’s just as painful for those on the losing side…
