In 2009 the Daytona 200 was held at night. I went for the first time to this icon of American Motorbike Racing specifically because of the opportunity to try shooting motorcycles under artificial lights. I knew I’d be heading to Losail for the first time a month or so later, so this seems like a good opportunity to learn before the long trip to Qatar.

It was a challenging situation, for sure. But as with MotoGP at Losail, Daytona at night did lead to some photos that are unique. This portrait of Chaz Davies on the grid is one of them.
