After a dramatic high side crash in Qualifying, Casey Stoner rode to a heroic fourth place in his final US race at the 2012 Indy MotoGP.

Stoner then missed the following three races, and when he returned to the grid at Motegi, his chance to repeat as World Champ had vanished.
