IoM TT Races 2015 – Photos from Tony Goldsmith
PHOTO.GP Contributor Tony Goldsmith is on his way to being one of the photographers who defines the look of the Isle of Man TT in the current era. Tony has the advantage of having grown up on the island and attended the TT for many years. But among those who share that personal history, Tony is a fantastic photographer who uses his local knowledge and experience to bring us beautiful images such as those below. We’re pleased and honored to display his work here at PhotoGP.
Above, though Nick Harris wasn’t on scene to say that John McGuinness was ‘absolutely flying,’ the Morecambe Missile nevertheless took to the air whenever needed on his way to several new course records.
On his way to his 23rd TT victory, John McGuinness set a new outright lap record of 132.701mph. McGuinness also equalled Mike Hailwood with seven Senior TT wins. The original race was red flagged on the second lap when Jamie Hamilton crashed near the 11th milestone. Hamilton was taken the hospital and while seriously injured, is expected to recover. This incident led to the Senior race being restarted as a 4-lap event. McGuinness then set another record with his opening lap of 131.850mph, which was the fastest ever recorded from a standing start. After the inspiring results earlier in the week, specifically the victories of Ian Hutchinson, McGuinness proved he’s still the fastest man on the final day.
