MotoGP Brno 2015 Press Conference Portraits
The Thursday press conference has just concluded. Below, portraits of the riders included with some excerpts from their comments in response to Nick Harris’ questions.
Shown above, Marc Marquez: “This circuit in the past has been good for me. Ok, not like Sachsenring and Indianapolis, but I like the track, I like the layout. Just last year, I struggled in the race, but we understand why. So I hope and expect a great weekend.”
Valentino Rossi, reflecting on Brno being the scene of his first Grand Prix victory back in 1996: “I have some races that, even if it was a long, long time ago, you never forget. [Brno 1996] was my first pole position. I arrived from my first podium the week before in Austria, but you know, to win is completely different. It’s the moment when you think that maybe you can become a real, professional rider.”
Jorge Lorenzo: “Last year I finished second trying to catch Dani at the end of the race, no? So I had a very strong end of the race. I think now our bike is good to keep the pace at the end of the race, so I hope to have good performance all weekend, to have the possibility to push on the last laps.”
Andrea Dovizioso: “I’m here to come back. I was also unlucky in Indianapolis, in the start, so… Sure, we are not fast to fight for the podium at this moment, but our target is to reduce the gap and come back into a better position.”
Cal Crutchlow: “We’ve still had some great results, in Argentina and Jerez, we had good results. There’s no reason why we can’t get back to those results, you know, in the second half of the year. We have about seven and half thousand kilometers on the Honda now, so it’s time to start getting a little bit faster again and, similar to Andrea, reduce the gap to the front guys because we definitely need it.”
Karel Abraham, back in the paddock after a foot injury that still has him moving around on crutches: “I can definitely ride [this weekend]. I was almost sure that I would be fit to race. On the other hand I’m not feeling really great because by now I was expecting to be fully fit and the foot, unfortunately, still hurts. It’s hard for me to fit into the boot, but I found a way how to make it, so… I’m sure it will be quite a lot of pain during the weekend but I have to go through it and I’m sure I will be able to ride.”
