While MotoGP has raced under the lights of Qatar since 2008, WSBK made its first night time appearance at Losail as it wrapped up its 2014 season. Ducati rider Davide Giugliano claimed the honor of the first ever night time WSBK SuperPole with a time of 1’57.033.

You may be wondering how this compares to the 2014 MotoGP pole time set by Marc Marquez. In QP2 this season Marquez went around in 1’54.507.

As Tom Sykes and Sylvain Guintoli battled for the title, Giugliano finished 5th in the first race, two places ahead of teammate Chaz Davies. In Race 2 the Ducati riders nearly swapped places, Giugliano finishing 8th, with Davies in 5th.

Giugliano and Davies will remain with Ducati for 2015.
