Day 2 at Mugello 2015
Day 2 at Mugello 2015 saw even more upsets of the MotoGP status quo. For the local fans, the qualifying results were both exciting and disappointing. The national brand excelled, while the national hero languished.
Above, top Honda honors went not to either Repsol Honda rider, but to Cal Crutchlow.
Aleix Espargaro is still aching from his recent injuries, and fighting the Suzuki in the fashion he demonstrates here.
On the other Suzuki, Maverick Vinales continues to gain experience with one solid rookie performance after another.
Valentino Rossi’s 2015 Mugello helmet reflected the clouds but he was firmly grounded, over four tenths behind pole and barely faster than Vinales.
Jorge Lorenzo planned to take pole, but at the last moment lost the honors by .095! Missed it by that much.
Marc Marquez looked good to progress to QP2 until Hernandez bumped him at the last moment. He will start from 13th tomorrow.
