Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015 Helmet
Keeping another Valentino Rossi tradition alive and well, the 9-time World Champ revealed his special Mugello helmet today. This year’s Aldo Drudi design features a chrome dome that reflects its surroundings, while the lower section shows graphics from a Renewable Energy theme.
The left side of the visor border reads ‘Yellow Energy’ while the right side says ‘Energia Rinnovabile,’ or Renewable Energy, and features a recycling symbol beneath the 46 logotype. The left side of the crash hat also features decals in the shape of paw prints representing his cat and two bulldogs.
With an odd similarity to the three ant stages of Marc Marquez’ brand (in which the gray ant is “Easy going…,’ the half-red half-gray ant is ‘Warming up…,’ and the red ant is ‘Racing!’), the back of the 2015 helmet shows six stages of increased intensity, one for each session of a MotoGP weekend. The color porogression is from red for FP1 to orange to green to yellow for the Race.
Rossi’s special helmets usually have a theme reflecting something going on in his life or career, and I suspect this one refers to his renewed competitiveness as the 2015 Championship leader.
