Scott’s MotoGP Stories Coming to UK: Update

Posted on 4 Aug, 2014 by Scott Jones
Marc Marquez at Losail, Qatar 2014

Update, 8-18: I’m pleased to say that the 50 places for this event have been claimed.

If you are one of those who will attend I’d like to thank you for signing up. I’d also like to invite you to post any questions you’d like to ask in advance via the Contact page. I will do my best to answer every question I get on the evening of August 27th.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing my stories with you.

Each time I give this talk in the U.S., I get tweets etc from friends in the U.K. asking if there will be a British edition. Finally, the answer is: YES!

Thanks to my friends at MCN, I will be showing images and talking about MotoGP from a photographer’s perspective at the MCN offices in Peterborough the Wednesday before the British GP at Silverstone. You can see the official announcement on MCN.com here.

If you’re visiting this site for the first time and don’t know who I am, please check out this page that offers some more information about what I do.

I will show MotoGP and WSBK images from 2014 and tell stories of what it has been like to cover this season so far.

I’ll also leave plenty of time afterward to answer questions about whatever comes up, be it specific events this season or images you’d like to hear more about.

Perhaps those who have attended in the past can explain the experience better than I can, so I’m including some remarks from past attended below.

To continue my ongoing support for my favorite motorcycle-related charity there is no admittance fee for the 50 spots available. But along with sponsor MCN, we’re asking for donations to go to Riders for Health.

To reserve your place, please contact Rhonda at MCN.

MotoGP/Photography fans who have attended this talk before say:

As an avid MotoGP fan, I never miss a chance to see Scott Jones. Scott’s presentations bring together his incredible photos and “behind the scenes’ insights that only an insider with Scott’s access can share. Scott’s presentations and honest answers to audience questions have always put the MotoGP season into focus for me like no other source.” – George O.

One of MotoGP’s great photojournalists, Scott Jones brings his vivid photos of Grand Prix racing to life with his compelling stories from behind the lens.” – Jensen B.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Scott’s unique look into what a professional motor sports photographer deals with when shooting a major race. I think that other GP fans would love to hear his insight and stories as much as we did.” – Jimil B.

Great insight into what’s required to take these beautiful shots. I didn’t know how much preparation it took to capture something as unique as the both wheels in the air at Laguna Seca in the “First in Flight” picture of Marc Marquez. Thanks for making it very accessible for those of us not so savvy with the camera gear.” – Dorota H.

Scott Jones’ talent doesn’t end when the shutter stops, he’s got an arsenal of quirky stories and he’s not afraid to share them. Furthermore, Scott is as humble as they come – ask his anything and he’ll give you his honest opinion.
I had the pleasure of hearing Scott speak at the D-Store in San Francisco, CA. I had already fallen in love with his photography beforehand, so I had high expectations for meeting the man behind the lens. Scott did not disappoint – he’s passionate about MotoGP and it shows.
Scott’s unique insight on all the different riders and tracks lends for a very entertaining time, but you don’t have to be a MotoGP fan to see that Scott takes a lot of pride in his work. His Casey Stoner shots are some of my favorites, especially when he captures the intensity in Stoner’s eyes. It’s a real treat to see any of Scott’s work, but it’s especially nice when you get to meet him in person.” – Annette C.

It’s always a pleasure hearing Scott speak. His presentations are fantastic; informative, and filled with on-track, and behind-the-scenes stories and nuance garnered from years of experience and personal relationships. A not-to-miss opportunity!” – Eddie T.

A millisecond of time can blow your mind and Scott Jones is one if the few that can capture the underlying beauty of motorcycle racing. It is thrilling, a MotoGP race. The speed and daredevil nature is plain to see but there is beauty in the angles, the colors and a rider’s intensity that one can only see if captured at the right time and with an artistic eye. Scott presented his work at the D-Store in San Francisco taking us through his artistic process; with a dash of behind the scenes stories, that can be quite amusing! It’s a must-do whether you love motorcycle racing or if you just love great talent in photography!” – Jan T.
