Some people think MotoGP photographers lead glamorous lives, jet-setting around the globe, rubbing shoulders with top level athletes and gorgeous umbrella girls.

The stark reality is more like this. In between sessions at Silverstone, I found myself at the same corner as Cormac Ryan-Meenan and Tony Goldsmith. Between the Irish and Isle of Man accents it was a challenge to get much of what they were talking about. AND, neither of them is a top level athlete or a gorgeous umbrella girl.

In spite of these shortcomings, both are great guys and fantastic photographers, always a pleasure to spend some time with. After all, it’s not the sights, sounds or smells of the paddock that make it the truly special place it is. Rather it’s the people you get to know.

Cormac, Tony, cheers to you both!
