UPDATE: No more submissions, please, and a huge thank you to everyone who responded!

I have added my own version at the end. This is what I did before I posted this article, and thus it has not been influenced by anything sent in by readers. I can’t say, however, that I would do it exactly the same way now, having seen some of the ideas below…

Welcome to Raw Challenge #5.

If you’re not sure what’s going on here, you might take a look at the previous PhotoGP Raw Challenges.

Intended to go along with the other articles in our photography tips section known as Technique, the Raw Challenge invites you to process an image as you think best.

This time we’re working with a studio shot of the new Ducati Scrambler, courtesy of our friend and colleague Jensen Beeler, the brains and brawn behind Asphalt and Rubber.

I have posted his original raw file for download by anyone who wants to play along. To download the raw file, click on the link below. WARNING: this file is 12.5MB:

You will need a raw image file editor, I use Adobe Lightroom. If you don’t have the ability to edit a raw file, you can still play along with any app that can edit a JPG file. The hi-res JPG file (4.8MB) can be be found here:

As before, download whichever file you desire and get to work. Crop, adjust contrast, brightness, saturation, shadows, highlights, white balance, add noise, remove noise, remove dust spots, do whatever you think the image needs to be as good as you can make it.

1. Download either the raw file or the jpg.

2. Make your edits and SAVE AS a jpg file, 728 pixels wide.

3. Include YOUR NAME in your processed file’s name. You are welcomed to include a text file with any remarks you’d like me to add when I post your edited file, or you can put them in the Comments section of this post.

4. Send your file to me via this link.

I will add contributed images to this post as quickly as I’m able. But please keep in mind that I am also doing other things, and there may be a delay between sending your email and your image showing up here.

As ever, I have finished my own version and will post it as the final image. This time, however, we will see TWO versions at the end, one by the image’s creator, Mr. Beeler, and one by me.

Have fun!
