For the 2015 MotoGP season, there are three options for entries in the premier class as follows.

Factory

Factory teams are limited to five engines for the season with a development freeze, i.e., the engines must be the same throughout the year. Factory entries are also limited to 20 liters of fuel per race, use the MotoGP ECU hardware, but can use their own software.

The Factory teams are Movistar Yamaha, Repsol Honda, Tech 3 Yamaha, LCR Honda (Crutchlow), and Marc DVS Honda.

Factory Option

Limited to 12 engines for the season without the development freeze, so engines can be updated from race to race. These entires use the official ECU with their own software. They can use 24 liters of fuel and the softer tire options unless their results during the season change these allowances.

The Factory Option teams are Ducati (now limited to 22 liters of fuel due to race results), Gresini Aprilia, Ecstar Suzuki, and Pramac Ducati.

Open

Open teams are limited to 12 engines, no development freeze, 24 liters of fuel, softer tire.

The Open teams are Athina Forward Yamaha, Aspar Honda, LCR Honda (Miller), Avintia Ducati, IodaRacing Aprilia, and Cardion AM Honda.
