Again thanks to the Movistar Yamaha team, here is a track map of the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit that shows speed and gear selection telemetry.

Of note at this circuit are several things. The Yamaha riders spend a lot of time in 2nd and 3rd gears. We have two 1st gear sections, shown in green, and two 6th gear sections, shown in orange.

According to the data, the Yamaha riders quick shift past fifth as they accelerate out of Garage Vert – fifth doesn’t even appear in red as if the Yamaha seamless gearbox goes from 4th to 6th directly. Another oddity in this map is at Raccordement, the final double right hander. Approaching this 1st gear section, the telemetry shows the bikes doing 182.6 kilometers (113 mph) in 1st gear. That’s pretty remarkable, and it makes me wonder how accurate are the data displayed on this map. I suspect that super-accurate data would not be something Yamaha wants to display to the world, rivals in particular. So I find these maps to be very interesting, but I take them with a grain of salt.
