Trackside at any given MotoGP event, it’s not only the Dorna video cameras we see. There are often camera crews with their own equipment and their own agendas, and to judge by a quick glance at the people and their gear, they might be from anywhere in the world.

At Silverstone one of these mystery crews was set up at Vale at the same time I was there shooting stills. I happened to notice that they’d come up with yet another creative use for duct tape.

Whether the video monitor’s bracket had failed somehow, of whether it was never intended to attach to the top of this camera, a few wraps of black duct tape keep it where the videographer wanted it. Sometimes low tech solutions solve problems with high tech equipment.
